Outdoor burning within the City of Thunder Bay, regardless of the time of year, requires an annual permit. Permit rules and regulations are strictly enforced. • Failure to obtain a permit will result in prosecution and fine.

Outdoor burning within the City of Thunder Bay, regardless of the time of year, requires an annual permit.

Permit rules and regulations are strictly enforced.

• Failure to obtain a permit will result in prosecution and fine.
• Permits are valid for the calendar year they were purchased in.
• Only clean dry wood or charcoal is to be used. No trash such as garbage, building materials, or anything that produces a toxic fume may be burned.
• The fire must be supervised at all times with adequate extinguishing equipment on site.
• The approved burning area shall not be relocated or altered without approval and re-inspection by Thunder Bay Fire Rescue.
• Application and renewal of permits can easily be done online at thunderbay.ca/fire.
