Tax Department

The Tax Department is responsible for obtaining, developing, analyzing, and maintaining records necessary for the appraisal, assessment, billing, collection, and listing of taxes associated with real and personal property within the jurisdiction of the county and municipalities, according to the state of North Carolina General Statutes. The Tax Department is required to provide information, research, and maintain records for the NC Department of Revenue, and provide statistical information for General Assembly analysts. The department also serves as the staff liaison to the Board of Equalization and Review.

In-Person Payments

If you will be visiting the Government Center Office at 230 Government Center Drive, payments can be placed in the tax drop box located just outside of the main entrance. The drop box is collected twice per workday. The first is by 8:30 am and then again at 5:00 pm

Payment Options

The Tax Office is accepting cash, checks, credit cards, and E-check payments. They can be made in person, online to InvoiceCloud or by calling 1-877-309-0878. When paying online, or by phone, there is a small service fee. The tax payer will need their bill information to ensure the payment is credited properly.
