Will work for PM Modi's vision: Ashwini Vaishnaw takes charge as railway minister

BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Ashwini Vaishnaw took charge of the Ministry of Railways on Thursday. Vaishnaw said railway forms a major part of PM Modi's vision and he would work for that.

A day after he was inducted into the Union Cabinet, BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Ashwini Vaishnaw took charge of the Ministry of Railways on Thursday. Vaishnaw said the railway is a major part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision and he would work to ensure that every one gets its benefits. "Railway is a major part of PM Modi's vision. His vision for railways is to transform the lives of the people, that everyone - common man, farmers, the poor - gets the benefit of the railway. I will work for that vision," ANI quoted Ashwini Vaishnaw as saying.

Besides the Railway Ministry, Ashwini Vaishnaw has been given charge of the Ministry of Communications and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

During his tenure, he handled important responsibilities for over 15 years and was particularly known for his contribution to the PPP framework in infrastructure. Ashwini Vaishnaw has held leadership roles for major global companies such as General Electric and Siemens.
